Snowy Christmas Y'all!

Christmas has come and past for this family. It was wonderful all around. My mom was here to celebrate with us! She took such good care of me. Once you become a mom, no one really takes care of you anymore. She made sure she did that. She cooked, she cleaned, she did LOTS and LOTS of laundry and she entertained and watched the kids!

Scott and I went on a date Wednesday night! We made our way to a fancy restaurant that we had a huge amount of gift cards for! We valet parked, we sat by a huge fireplace and sipped alcoholic beverages. We ordered an appetizer, a salad, a very expensive dinner where the sides are served a la carte. We ordered an after dinner drink and dessert! We have never treated ourselves so nice. We enjoyed our evening but were tired and ready to get home.

I was worried about my kids and about my mom. I called on the way home to check on them. It rang a few times and I started to worry. Is the fire department there? Did they have to go to the ER, are the kids all screaming and she can't hear her phone? Finally, my mom answered. I heard Kate screaming in the background and was sure one of my fears were going to come true. My mom was rather annoyed when she answered as she told me that Kate was asleep on the couch and when she got up to answer the phone Kate fell off the couch! The other kids were in bed but did not go willingly. She said it was a bad night, she didn't want to talk about it and the minute I got home I poured her a glass of wine. The kids were not very good for her. I don't know how I can ever leave my kids with a high school babysitter if MY MOM can't even handle them on their good days?

I really enjoyed having my mom here. It was so nice to have company, an adult to talk to during the day and someone to cook/bake with. I loved drinking coffee all day and wrapping presents until all hours of the night while drinking wine. I really wish my mom lived closer, and I am sure she wishes the same.

The kids loved playing with Gma! Jesse and Brie both liked combing her hair and bringing her pretend food. They crawled under her feet while she cooked and tried to pull down the laundry she folded. Brie knew exactly how to push her buttons and Jesse could melt her with his smile. Kate could make her laugh with her monkey walk around the house. The monkey walk is when Kate crawls on her hands and feet with her butt up in the air! She looks like a monkey or gorilla.

Christmas Eve and Christmas day were a huge success. Jesse loved his new kitchen and Brie's new vanity. Brie loved everything she could get her hands on, especially her new blow dryer and barrettes from her vanity. Kate couldn't stop dancing to the music her new play table was making. She also couldn't keep her hands off Jesse's kitchen and his new ocean animals. The kids played, ate, and were merry all day long. If you believe that, then you believe my kids are angels too, right? WRONG! There was lots of fighting, lots of "it's mine, santa brought it for me", and lots of pushing, biting and tears. My kids are just so loving toward each other. The highlight of their day, after the present,s was playing in the snow! We got a white Christmas here in Texas! Brie made snowballs and snow angels and ate lots of snow. Jesse didn't want to play much. He was put off by the fact that his red coupe car was covered in snow and he couldn't play in it. Kate is still sick so she stayed inside and banged on the glass door as she watched everyone else play.

Here are a few pictures from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!

We had a wonderful Christmas and we can't wait for the New Year!
